The Album
YUGEN was born in 2020 from the collaboration and thirty-year experience of three musicians from Salento. In January 2022, YUGEN recorded their first album, Tears and Light, released by Dodicilune Records and distributed by I.R.D. For this work, the group draws on the experience and finesse of Valerio Daniele (guitar), Giorgio Distante (trumpet), and Francesco Massaro (electronics).
The Music
The trio’s stylistic choice offers a colorful musical texture, within which a changing and simultaneously stable intention emerges, the ostinato being the foundation on which to paint singable melodies and captivating electronic forays.
An aesthetic quest that converges three different musical personalities into a common denominator capable of creating a completely original language, beyond classifications.
Yugen is not jazz, it is not rock and it is not electronic: Yugen is all of these at the same time.
