What They say about us

Review on “Il Manifesto”
Review by Guido Festinese on Alias for “Il Manifesto”. A great album from a great band, even if the adjectives must be measured against the paltry landscape of a music scene that’s certainly not particularly attentive to true, long-standing talent. A perfect omen to kick off the new year with good music. Yugen seem to be coming full circle with the lessons of E.S.T., Nik Bärtsch, and Bad Plus: feverish and poetic constructions of ostinato repetition, a maximalist minimalism, one might say. When the trio’s soundscape also incorporates wind instruments, strings, and electronics, it’s a real celebration. (Guido Festinese)
